Donald Trump wants to privatize air traffic control, but the heroic pilot behind the Miracle on the Hudson says that would put profits over safety, giving "the keys of the kingdom to the four largest airlines.”
According to The Washington Post, Sullenberger says the privatization proposal is a solution looking for a problem. “The FAA is not broken,” said Sullenberger, “What this proposal does is take an extreme solution to a non-problem.”
He's worried that if implemented, privatizatized air traffic controllers will be pressured to please their bosses and not the travelling public. "I can guarantee you the four largest airlines don’t always have the interests of the traveling public in mind," he says.
