Torontonians support keeping garbage collection public

In the last Toronto mayoral race, John Tory was vocal about his intent to privatize garbage collection east of Yonge Street. But as it turns out, 70 per cent of those living east of Yonge oppose privatizing their waste collection, according to a new CUPE poll. 

An overwhelming 79 per cent of residents voiced support for the current mixed model (a combination of public and private collection) or an entirely public approach.
